Carnival Glass - Swan
This Cobalt Carnival Glass Swan, c.1920, measures 142 mm in diameter and displays the rich, luminous sheen typical of early carnival glass. Produced by pressing glass into intricate moulds and finishing it with metallic salts for an iridescent surface, carnival glass was originally made to bring affordable beauty into ordinary homes. The swan motif is especially collectable as it symbolises grace and purity, and was a favoured design among early glassmakers for its elegant form and reflective appeal. This example in deep cobalt blue is both visually striking and a fine representation of the period’s artistry.
