Kathleen Hale’s Orlando (The Marmalade Cat) Becomes a Doctor is part of her much-loved series about Orlando and his family, notable for its large format and colourful illustrations drawn by Hale herself. First published in 1944, this 1949 reprint was published by Country Life Limited, London, with the illustrations drawn to plate by the author and lithographed by W.S. Cowell Ltd. It contains 32 pages and is 36.5cm x 27cm, with its dust jacket protected by a removable plastic cover. A highly collectable example of classic British children’s illustration.
