18ct Gold Large Amethyst Ring

Large amethyst rings were particularly popular in mid-20th-century jewellery, where the rich purple colour of the stone was often given plenty of space in a substantial gold setting. This 18ct gold ring has a large amethyst approximately 20mm x 15mm and weighs 8.63g overall. It is a smaller size K, with two additions to the inside of the band, probably fitted to help stabilise the ring on the finger. One claw is broken. The photographs highlight some surface scratches, although these are much less obvious to the eye.
