Dixon & Sons c.1880

Pewter hip flasks were practical travelling companions in the 19th century, valued for their durability and relatively light weight. Dating to around 1880, this example by James Dixon & Sons is 12.5cm high and weighs approximately 200g. The removable lid cleverly doubles as a drinking cup. The flask has a number of dents consistent with its age and use, and the cup/lid has a split running up one side.
