Martin Hall & Co. Sheffield c.1850
This impressive Martin Hall & Co Sheffield EPBS set of five dates to around 1850 and includes a spirit kettle that is 38.5cm high, giving the ensemble generous proportions and a striking visual presence - all in very good condition. Martin Hall & Co were among the most respected Sheffield manufacturers of the mid-19th century, known for high-quality silver plate made for both domestic and presentation use, and EPBS (Electroplated British Silver) refers to early electroplating techniques that allowed a thick, durable layer of silver to be bonded to a base metal, producing pieces that were both handsome and hard-wearing. This is a seriously good-looking tea and coffee set with strong Victorian confidence and balance that is museum quality.
