Cassowaries hold an important place in the traditional culture of Papua New Guinea, particularly in the Sepik River region, where their feathers, bones and imagery have long been incorporated into ceremonial and decorative objects. Dating to around 1970, this cassowary figure is made from woven traditional materials with natural dyes. It is 40cm high and weighs less than 300g. Please note that postage will be higher than the weight might suggest due to the size and careful packing required.
