Sterling Silver Hinged Bangle by Henry Hyde & Sons c.1920
Henry Hyde & Sons produced silver jewellery in Birmingham during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and this sterling silver hinged bangle dates to around 1920. It is patterned on one side and plain on the reverse, and is marked “H&S STG SIL.” The bangle is 13mm wide, weighs 23.75g and has an oval interior approximately 59mm x 55mm. It was later engraved “MUM 11.6.74,” adding a personal history to the piece. There are a few small dents consistent with its age and use.
