Tasmanian Gum Burl

Tasmanian gum burl is valued for its unusual grain patterns, formed when a tree develops irregular growth that creates swirling and highly figured timber. This bowl has been turned from gum burl, allowing the natural character and variations of the wood to become the focus. It is 19.75cm in diameter and 8.5cm high, and is signed “K Rayner – Gum Burl – Tasmania.” An interesting example of Tasmanian woodturning that celebrates the beauty of local timber.
